Assessment Information

Children undertake the following statutory assessments whilst they are at Whiteley Primary School:

  • Reception Baseline Assessment (a short, interactive and practical assessment of your child’s early literacy, communication, language and maths skills which they begin school.
  • At the end of Year R, the children are assessed against the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework.
  • Phonics Screening Check – undertaken towards the end of Y1 (and again in Y2, if children do not meet the standard in Y1).
  • Multiplication tables check – carried out in Y4
  • End of key stage 2 national curriculum tests (SATs)

Our teachers use on-going assessment to help identify pupil needs, plan next steps and track progress. From Y1 – Y6, we use the Hampshire Assessment Model to assess children in reading, writing and maths. Internal data is collected at 3 milestones during the year, and individual pupil assessments are shared with parents at least twice during the year.
