Teaching Assistant Vacancy

KS2 Teaching Assistants

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic teaching assistants to join our friendly KS2 team from September 2022 (with the flexibility for an earlier start in the summer term, if the candidate is available).

The teaching assistant role includes classroom support across the curriculum, specific intervention work with individuals and groups of children and work on Individual Education Plans for SEN pupils. All of our teaching assistants are required to work for 30 minutes during the lunch hour supporting play activities. 15 minutes preparation time with the class teacher is built into the hours to ensure that teaching assistants are suitably prepared for the day.

This is a term-time only contract (INSET days included). The minimum hours for the position are 20hrs per week over 5 mornings (8.30 – 12.30), but ideally we would like candidates who are willing and able to also work in the afternoons, and we have up to 30.42hrs available with some flexibility regarding which afternoons (please see job details for further information).

The successful candidates will

  • have a range of experience within KS2;
  • have knowledge and experience of delivering intervention programmes;
  • have a good understanding of child development and learning;
  • be a good team player;
  • demonstrate effective communication skills, with adults and children;
  • be able to promote positive behaviour;
  • be flexible, enthusiastic, reliable and hard-working;
  • enjoy working with children, and be able to support the school in the safeguarding of pupils. We can offer
  • motivated pupils and high academic standards;
  • an enthusiastic and talented staff team;
  • planned professional support;
  • excellent resources within a modern, purpose built school. The application pack can be downloaded from this page, or you can e-mail adminoffice@whiteley.hants.sch.uk for further information or to arrange a visit after the Easter holiday.  Closing date is Monday 9th May.
