Vision Statement

The motto for the London 2012 Olympics was ‘Inspire a Generation’ – and it certainly inspired us to try to come up with a way of expressing our school vision which was easy to remember and yet represented clearly what we feel Whiteley Primary School should be about. Staff were asked to write down words and phrases which for them represented the type of school and education we wanted for our pupils. A common theme which came through was the idea of enjoyment-we know from our feedback from pupils, parents, visitors and staff that the vast majority see our school as a happy place, and we know that pupils learn best when they are enjoying their learning-it therefore seemed appropriate to use the acronym of ‘SMILE’, with each letter representing an aspect of our vision for the school.
